Since this series of payments involves both the waits' cloaks and their making, as well as lace for their decoration, all as separate entries, Martin Atmarr could be a middleman dealing with the payments to both the tailor and the lace maker. Atmarr is cited in the Scarborough White Vellum Book as a bailiff in 1635, 1638, and 1639 (Jeayes (ed), Vellum Book, pp 78, 84).

The financial officers of the town (chamberlains) and of St Mary's Church (churchwardens) submitted their annual accounting together each Michaelmas.
Because the Record Office has been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the transcriptions have not yet been checked for accuracy.
