...
'Ovedale,' also spelled 'Uvedale,' is a well-known name in Hampshire history. This minstrel's patron may have been Sir Thomas Uvedale (1410–74), who lived at Wickham and had lands in both Hampshire and Surrey. His father, John Uvedale (d. c 1440), had been a member of parliament, as well as one of the first fellows of Winchester College.

Netley Abbey was a Cistercian house, founded in 1239 as a 'daughter house' to Beaulieu Abbey. Netley lies two miles south of Southampton, on the eastern side of Southampton Water. The title of arrearages for 'Lettele' in fact describes only the inital section of accounts, which are in fact the prior's accounts for the abbey for the entire year.
