Presentatur to be a dronckard and besids that wee neuer knew him to receaue the Communion with vs Emanauit citacio contra eum eum in hos &c Quibus &c. dominus duxit predictum Arche diligenter perquisit latitantem et non inventus nec comparentem eum citandum fore vijs et modis in novum diem Iunij proxime Citandum fore istis &c Quibus &c metcalfe certificauit se personaliter citasse predictum Arche in hos &c. et facta preconizatione pro dicto arche non comparenti dominus expectauit eum in novum diem Iunij proxime. Presentatur Henry Calton for caleinge diuerse men together the same eveninge that Iohn Swans wyfe departed, and gaue some of them drincke more then suffycient, so that it is reported that one Arche a miller was so droncken that he knew not what he did. Emanauit citacio contra dictum Calton in hos &c Quibus &c. dominus decreuit predictum Calton diligenter perquisitum latitantem et non inventum nec comparentem citandum fore vijs et modis ad secundum Iunij proximo. Quo die non comparuit vnde dominus viz. Magister Revell pronunciauit eum Contumacem et in penam contra eum ab ingressu Ecclesie suspensio Emanauit. Et fuit denunciatum in Ecclesia ibidem quarto Die Iunij 1592. per michaelem Cavel vicarium ibidem prout patet

    A presentment is made (English)A citation was issued against him as regards these (matters) On which (day) and at which (place) the lord (judge) determined that the said Arche, who having been diligently sought was hiding, and was not found, and did not appear, was to be cited by ways and means on 9 June next was to be cited by those (ways and means), etc. On which (day) and at which (place), Metcalfe certified that he had cited the aforesaid Arche in person regarding these (matters), and a summons was made for the said Arche, being absent. The lord (judge) expected him at the next (session) on 9 June. On which day, he did not appear wherefore the lord (judge), namely Revell, expected him at the next (session) on 16 June.

    Henry Calton is presented (English) A citation was issued against him regarding these (matters) On which (day) and at which (place) the lord (judge) decided that the aforesaid Calton, who having been diligently sought was hiding, and was not found, and did not appear, was to be cited by ways and means for 2 June next. On which day he did not appear where the lord (judge), namely Master Revell, pronounced him contumacious and in penalty against him a suspension from entering the church was issued. And it was announced in the church there on 4 June 1592, by Michael Cavel, the vicar there as is apparent.

    1592–3; Latin and English; paper; ii + 143 + ii; 230–55mm x 165–180mm; foliation contemporary, or nearly so (extra leaves sewn onto ff 19, 40, 56v, 68v, 99v, 142v); contemporary vellum binding (some tearing on back upper right hand corner), tape across spine with letter 'M,' title on front cover: 'Liber compert. in Ano Dni 1592 | et 1593.'
