Presentatur Thomas Roger and Ellen his wyfe for that they do liue vnquietly together to thoffence of there neighboures./ °Quibus &c. comparuit dictus Thomas Roger et obiecto ei articulo predicto dicit yat there is noe falte in him at all but in hire, for yat she went awaye from him to London & was there & from him aboute vj weekes g togither, and yat she hath conveighed from most of his lynnen. & other goods. & will be at hir mothers house (keepeinge a vittelenge house in Cumberton) verye often, & is there dawnseinge in the night tyme. & sometymes all the nighte tyme./ Dominus monuit eum yat he doe lyve quietley with hir prout decet. proximo die curie post ffestum Trinitatis proximo./°

Iunij comparuit dictus Roger, et exhibuit certificationem sub manibus Gardianorum et aliorum Inhabitantium eiusdem ville, vnde Dominus eum cum pia monicione &c. ab officio suo dimisit./°

    A presentment is made (English) The said Roger was admonished to live with (his) wife in a seemly manner and to certify thereafter in that regard. &c., On which (day) and in which (place), etc, the said Roger appeared in person and the lord (judge) advised to do the same at the next (court day). And on 23 June the said Roger appeared and showed the certificate witnessed by the churchwardens and other inhabitants of the same town; wherefore, the lord (judge) dismissed him from his office with a solemn warning, etc.
    (Against) Hellen, wife of the aforesaid Thomas Roger A presentment is made as above. She was admonished as above. On which (day) and in which (place), etc, the said Roger appeared in person and proceedings were as above. And on 23 June 1598, a summons was made for the said Hellen, who did not appear. The lord (judge) pronounced her contumacious and in punishment for her aforesaid contumacy decreed that she is to be excommunicated, and he joined William Billingsley, cleric and priest bachelor in sacred theology who excommunicated the same Helen in punishment for her contumacy as in the schedule. (A writ of excommunication) has been issued
