John Hasill was possibly the son of William Hasell the elder, a prominent member of the parish. William had been churchwarden in 1581–2 (p 26). On p 38 in the left margin against the heading for 1588–9 that names William Rudd as churchwarden for that year, William Hasell the elder's name appears along with Rudd's. Rudd also served as churchwarden for the year 1589–90. The entry that appears immediately before this entry about John Hasill reads, 'Item in my my handes alredie from william Hasell the elder my fellow in office of the overplus in his yeare iij li.'
