Lord Norris of Rycote was married to Margery, younger daughter of Lord Williams of Thame. She was an intimate of Queen Elizabeth, who called her 'my crow.' The couple entertained the queen at Rycote in 1592 after her visit to Oxford. Norris had served as a JP for Berkshire since 1559, sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire 1562–3, and high steward of Abingdon from c 1588.
